In Morocco, pregnancy out of wedlock is a transgression of local cultural, social, and religious norms. Single mothers are marginalized and shunned by their families.

Redundant discrimination adds to a young single mother’s burden of responsibility and allows a single incident in their lives to marginalization. The consequences of single motherhood in Morocco are often the abandonment of babies and young women living on the street.

This reality and the lack of opportunities available to young single mothers make it necessary to support the autonomy of these women in rebuilding their own lives. For this reason, we want to support these single mothers in obtaining jobs and forging their social reintegration while, at the same time, improve their living conditions and that of their children.

A project that changes the lives of young mothers

Thanks to the project “100% moms” we will help 150 young single women (between 20 and 30 years old) and 60 children. We will facilitate their professional training, employment orientation, and labor insertion in the city of Tangier, Morocco, offering them career advancement services adapted to their needs so that they can get jobs and support themselves and their children.

The courses that will be carried out are designed in accordance with a diagnosis of local market professional opportunities in sectors that currently have an important demand for labor in Tangier. We will help these women obtain a job under fair conditions so that they can eventually become independent.

At the same time, a daycare service has been created for women with children from 0 to 3 years old, allowing children to find a place where they can be cared for and begin their education, while their mothers are in training and looking for a job.
