We cooperate with the European Commission on its Communication on the role of the private sector in the fight against poverty

The European Commission has released the ‘Communication on the Stronger Role of the Private Sector in Achieving Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in Developing Countries’.

The main goal is to create a strategy for effective collaboration with the private sector than turns into measurable and extensible results for the population living in the most disadvantaged areas in the world.

The European Commission invited us to a consultation session on the forthcoming Private Sector Communication. At the meeting, held in Brussels in the presence of CSR companies and organizations, we were able to show our vision and wide experience on how we work with companies, defending the role NGOs have within CSR.

One of our main recommendations on this point is to promote market strategies that facilitate the access to low cost technologies to population and local business living under poverty and exclusion conditions. Thus, small and medium enterprises generate development at the same time they demand it.

This kind of programs can’t be set up immediately, as they require some time to be tested and improved. For this reason, we firmly believe in the financing of this business models that will contribute to sustainable and inclusive job creation among the most disadvantaged populations.

Besides, we are convinced of the great opportunities that can arise from the partnerships between companies and the NGO sector. We highly recommend investing in tools to measure the social impact that some business activities have on local economies in order to have a basis on which to promote private initiative in creating a sustainable and inclusive growth.

As a result of all this, we welcome this new ‘Communication on the Stronger Role of the Private Sector in Achieving Inclusive and Sustainable Growth in Developing Countries’ as an opportunity to cooperate with companies willing to fight against poverty.
